Mobile Hotspots have arrived at OPL!
What is a Mobile Hotspot? These are easy to use devices that give you wireless internet connection wherever a cellular network is available.
You can connect your tablet, smartphone, or computer to our Mobile Hotspots to surf the web, download e-Books, watch videos on Hoopla, do online banking, or research your latest great read.
Who can borrow a Mobile Hotspot? Any Orillia Public Library member with a valid Adult library membership in good standing. This includes:
- Those who live in the City of Orillia, the Township of Oro-Medonte, the Town of Severn, or members of the Chippewas of Rama First Nation.
- Reciprocal Agreement card holders: Barrie and Midland residents, Georgian College and Lakehead University students.
- Those who have paid for 6 month or 1-year memberships.
Don’t have a library card? Find out how you can get a membership.
What’s the cost? It is free to borrow a Mobile Hotspot with your library card! Once the Mobile Hotspot is checked out to you, it is your responsibility to maintain it. If damaged, fees are as follows:
- Mobile Hotspot $290

What’s the loan period? Adult members can borrow a hotspot for a 2-week period. There are no renewals for Mobile Hotspots. If not returned by the due date, Internet service will be cut off.
How do I get a Mobile Hotspot? You can place a hold in our catalogue or stop by our Check Out Desk! Mobile Hotspots must be returned to the Library during opening hours and given directly to a staff member at the Check Out Desk who will ensure all device pieces have been returned in good condition.
Mobile Hotspots are to be kept at room temperature. Please do not leave in a vehicle.
