Public Computers
We provide public computer stations to access the Internet and word processing programs. Reserve a station with your Library card.
Computer use is first-come, first-served for up to two hours per day. (Twenty minute "quick access" computers are also available.) Computers are available when the Library opens until 10 minutes before closing.
Visitors to Orillia may also use the public computers at no charge. "Out-of-Town" ID may be required as proof of non-Orillia residence.
Our Library computers have the following software installed:
- Microsoft Office 2010 (including Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Access)
- Web browser: Internet Explorer 10, Chrome, Fire Fox
- Windows Media Player
- Windows Picture & Fax Viewer
- Adobe Reader
- USB ports
Laptops
Laptops are available exclusively for in-house use for tests and exams. These can include exams for online education courses or qualifications such as Smart Serve. Borrowers are required to have a Library card, sign an agreement form, and trade a piece of government issued photo ID before use.
To use a laptop for an examination, please provide forty-eight hours notice by calling 705-325-2338 or email us. We also offer proctoring services for a fee.
(*For regular course work or research, we ask that you use the public desktop computers by acquiring a Library card or guest pass.)
Printing
Printing, photocopying and scanning are also available onsite. Black and white prints are available for $0.25 per page and colour prints are available for $1.00 per page. Scanning documents to email is available free of charge.
You can print at the library by logging on to a public computer with a Library card or guest pass.
You can also print from your own device using our mobile wireless printing service PrinterOn by submitting your print job online and visiting the Library to pick up your prints. View our PrinterOn instructions.
Wi-Fi
The Library offers wireless Internet service free of charge during regular business hours. You must re-connect your Wi-Fi and accept the terms and conditions every time you enter the Library.
Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot Kits are also available for 2-week loans to Library Members.
